Located in the heart of Ballarat, Camp Street Campus is the University of Ballarat's main site for the "Arts Academy".
The redevelopment of the Camp Street area, integrating both new and historic buildings, has resulted in a central precinct for the Visual and Performing Arts and a dynamic and vibrant new arts and cultural environment of international significance in the centre of Ballarat.
The start of the academic year 2002 saw the majority of the University's Visual and Performing Arts students, staff and programs co-locate at Camp Street. Eight thousand square metres of space will be in use by 400 students and staff when the complex is finished mid 2002.
The precinct has been developed with provision for:
- Creative Arts education and training programs across both TAFE and Higher Education
- Creative Arts studio and performance facilities, computer laboratories and multimedia facilities
- Flexible performance spaces and a 150-seat theatre for theatre performance, concerts and recitals
- Places for 38 students to live on site
- A Visiting Artist and Artist-in-Residence program across both the Visual and Performing Arts
- Community outreach programs - short courses, seminars, workshops and master-classes
- Professional gallery and exhibition spaces
